New Year Self Portrait

Well, as all can see, my advent drawings fell through spectacularly. Nobody saw that one coming I'll bet...

I've done a selfie for the new year, a bit of a call out to my friend Kat who does this every year as a way to gauge if there's been any major artistic improvements in the past year, as well as an experimentation with some digital painting techniques. Decided to draw it using only a mirror as reference so it probably isn't perfect... As is no doubt obvious, I got pretty bored half way through so it's unfinished. But I was pretty pleased with the undersketch anyway, so I just left it exposed...

Happy new year, kids. Hope it's braw.

Christmas Advent - Day 8

Still running late... Continuing the theme of oddly cropped caricatures of celebrities as Pokemon trainers, Dame Maggie Smith.

Christmas Advent - Day 7

I realise that perhaps not all of my followers like Pokemon, so my challenge may not be for them. But everyone likes Nicholas Cage, right? RIGHT? All will tremble before him, screaming "NO, NOT THE BEEDRILL, NO, NO, NOT THE BEEDRILL, AWEAWREFGSJBDF D:"

Christmas Advent - Day 5

The Hobbit is coming out soon, so I've been thinking about Ian McKellen even more than usual. I considered choosing a more wizardly Pokemon, but this pun was too good.

Christmas Advent - Day 4

I had initially thought that Jigglypuff would be a good Pokemon for Freddie Mercury, but then I remembered Avril Lavigne and it was too perfect. Then I researched what Avril Lavigne looked like and I realised she was probably too boring to effectively caricature. But I went and did it anyway.

This is still a day late (technically 2 days late now it's past midnight) but I have some other stuff on at the moment. I'll catch up at the weekend.

Christmas Advent - Day 3

I think we all know what Christian Bale's Pokémon would be...

Christmas Advent - Day 2

Uma Thurman is going to have her revenge on Bill, even if she has to challenge every single member of the Crazy 88 to a pokemon battle to get to him.

Christmas Advent - Day1

As is becoming tradition, I have decided to try and produce a drawing a day for every day of December up until Christmas. Hopefully I'll actually finish this year, unlike last year when I managed about 4... Start as you mean to continue, they say. Well I've started late. So don't get your hopes up.

Oh yeah, the theme this year is Pokémon trainers, with a bit of a twist...

I don't think Bill Murray would do much actual battling as a trainer. Him and his Slowking would probably rather just relax with a brandy and enjoy life.

Another universe

You ever have one of those days where you get hyped up on cold and flu medication and have spaced out conversations with your friends via the internet, which then results in bizarre new projects...?

These are just some new character designs I was playing around with. From left to right: Kit, Tammy, Rafael,  Keira and Lyndon.

In other news: what the hell am I doing with my life?

Commissions, yo

Hey kids, I made some jokey comment on Facebook the other day about how I'd draw people while drunk for money. Well... I will actually do it. Except not drunk. Unless that's what you wanted...?

Anyway, if you'll scroll down you'll find that about
90% of the first two pages of this blog is all caricatures and stuff, but I can also do realistic portraits too. I'm going to tentatively say £10 for coloured caricature bust, £15 if it's a full body shot of you riding a giant poodle or holding half a frog or whatever, maybe £15 for a realistic portrait. Rates are totally negotiable based on what you want, I'll draw characters from games, celebrities, real people, imaginary friends. Basically I'll draw whatever you like apart from pornography (that's waaay more expensive). Makes nice presents and keepsakes, etc.

This might just end up being one of those awkward, desperate blog posts where nobody replies, and that's fine. But if you are interested in commissioning me, or if you know anyone who might be, just fire me a wee message and let's talk business.

Peace out, yo

Day 3 - Your friends

I am very lucky, in that I have a lot of close friends. At first I couldn't decide who to draw, so I went on my Facebook profile and picked a few from the randomised list at the side. Top left is Kieran, top right is Alex and at the bottom is Tom

They're all wonderful beautiful people :3

30 day drawing challenge: Day1- Yourself

So I found this 30 day challenge thing on Tumblr where you have a list of things that you have to draw, one a day, for a month. Sounded like good incentive to me, so here we go.

Day 1: Yourself

A self portrait.

Day 3, hahaha... Meg and Mog

With each day I fall further and further behind....

This is my friend Meghan. She likes cats and doesn't afraid of anything.

Day 2 (late) Liam

So at present my theme is "Bog standard portraits of friends in odd, but not particularly interesting, poses". Today's pic is my pal Liam, who is a good egg. He's not been out for fowar days. I left in a couple of test sketches at the top.

I got a new pen today and it is gorgeous. Weird how things like that make all the difference when it comes to how professional a drawing looks, huh?

Day 1? Rolo

So lots of people I know are doing the whole drawing a day advent thing, I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon. I'm aware today is not day 1 of anything. I did start this drawing on the 1st though. I also put a question mark because there's a good chance this'll fall through like a DIY staircase. We'll see I suppose.

I don't really have a theme. This one's just a straight up portrait of the GF. Her response when I showed it to her was, "Who is it? Oh really? I couldn't tell. What's wrong with my hands?" Thanks, Rolo x
